The Raspberry Pi (RPi) is an ultra-low-cost, single-board, credit-card sized Linux computer which was conceived with the primary goal of teaching computer programming to children and became an instant sensation in the tech world with a vast community of hackers constantly tweaking hardware and software within it.

During our presentation we will show you two different Linux based operating systems running on RPi: Raspbian and OpenELEC. Raspbian – Debian based distro tailored specifically for RPi, making of it fully fledged computer which can be connected to a monitor, with keyboard and mouse, as well as speakers and printers and can be used for many of the things that your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games. It also plays high-definition video and music. You’ll see how easy it is to add your own custom hardware design to RPi using Python and RPi.GPIO module. OpenELEC - built from scratch specifically to act as a media center. In addition, OpenELEC is designed to be managed as an appliance: it can automatically update itself and can be managed entirely from within the graphical interface and has a support for numerous remote control devices, which will be demonstrated.
